Cinco de Mayo, the fifth of May, marks an 1862 victory by Mexican troops over the French forces of Napoleon III at the Battle of Puebla.

The annual celebration in Mexico sees military parades, folk dancing, street parties and spreads of traditional food. In the United States, it's pretty much food and drinks with some fun parties sprinkled in.
